UnitedHealthcare expands options for small businesses in Pennsylvania
UnitedHealthcare introduced a new consumer driven small business health insurance plan that lets Pennsylvania employers offer a wide choice of benefits. The Multi-Choice plan allows companies with 2 to 50 employees to select multiple plan options from 30 medical plan designs, with different coverage levels, deductibles and premiums. The program may be implemented through FreedomBenefits.org with independent employee assistance to help employees make the best choices. Previously most benefit enrollers actually worked for the insurance broker and were paid from commissions on the insurance. Now, die to health reform, employers have the ability to waive commissions and hire independent providers.
Participants in the Multi-Choice plan have access to UnitedHealthcare’s national network of more than 650,000 PPO doctors and other health care providers, including about 26,000 in Pennsylvania, as well as about 5,000 hospitals nationwide, including 216 in Pennsylvania.
